Some businesses begin with a business plan.
Joonkiree began with a baby.
When we became parents, we started looking at children's products differently.
Things we might not have thought much about before suddenly mattered. We started checking fabrics, thinking about comfort, looking at how something was made, and asking ourselves whether we would actually be happy putting it on our own child.
One of the things we were looking for was quite simple: good-quality cotton clothing that felt soft and comfortable, especially the malmal cotton we had in mind for our baby.
But finding what we were looking for wasn't always easy.
There weren't many choices. And even when we found something that looked good, the experience of buying it wasn't always what we hoped for.
Sometimes it was difficult to get proper information. Sometimes the customer service wasn't helpful enough. Sometimes we simply wished there was a place where we could shop for our child with a little more confidence.
That experience stayed with us.
We began asking ourselves:
Why should finding good children's products be so difficult?
When you're buying something for yourself, you might overlook a small issue. With a baby or child, you naturally become more careful.
You think about the fabric touching their skin.
You think about whether they will be comfortable.
You think about whether something is practical enough for everyday life.
And you want honest information before making a decision.
If there is something important to know about a product, we'd rather be told clearly. If sizing needs attention, we'd rather know before ordering. If a product needs special care, we'd like that information upfront.
That's when we realized the gap wasn't only about clothing.
It was about the whole experience.
The product matters. But so does how it is presented, how questions are answered, how an order is handled, and how a customer feels after making a purchase.
We felt there was an opportunity to do those little things better.
And that idea eventually became Joonkiree.
We didn't want to create a store simply filled with children's products.
We wanted to build a place where we could find things that we would genuinely consider for our own children.
For us, quality doesn't necessarily mean expensive or luxurious.
It means choosing thoughtfully.
It means looking at comfort, practicality and the details that matter when a child is going to use or wear something.
And it means being honest.
We don't want to make a product sound better than it is just to make a sale.
If something has a particular care requirement, we should tell you.
If sizing needs attention, we should make that clear.
If there's something a parent should consider before buying, we believe they deserve to know.
We also believe customer service is part of product quality.
A good product can still create a disappointing experience if a customer cannot get a simple answer when they need one.
We know we won't get everything right all the time. But we want to keep listening, learning and improving.
The name Joonkiree means firefly.
We liked the idea of a small light.
A firefly doesn't light up an entire road. It has a tiny glow that appears in the darkness.
Small, but meaningful.
That felt right for what we wanted Joonkiree to become.
Raising a child comes with countless choices. Clothes, toys, essentials, gifts and so many other things. Sometimes what parents need isn't another hundred choices. They need a little help finding the right ones.
We hope Joonkiree can be that little light.
And the firefly also represents something we strongly believe in:
Small things can make a difference.
A soft piece of clothing.
A comfortable outfit on a cold morning.
A helpful answer from customer service.
A thoughtfully selected product.
A package prepared with care.
None of these things may seem significant on its own. But together, they can make a family's day a little easier and a child's day a little more comfortable.
That's meaningful to us.
Children don't always have the words to tell us what they need.
A newborn can't tell us that something feels uncomfortable.
A toddler may simply pull at their clothes or refuse to wear something without being able to explain why.
As parents, we learn to notice those little signs.
That's why we don't want to look at children's products only through a photograph.
We want to ask:
How does it feel?
Is it practical?
Is it comfortable?
Will it work in everyday family life?
Those questions guide the way we think about the products we bring to Joonkiree.
Joonkiree is starting with children's products, but our vision doesn't end with clothing.
Over time, we'd like Joonkiree to grow into something bigger—a place that brings together thoughtfully selected products, useful resources and, eventually, services or initiatives that can contribute positively to children's lives.
We don't have everything figured out yet.
And that's okay.
We believe a brand like this should grow by listening.
Listening to parents.
Listening to our customers.
Learning from the products that work and the ones that don't.
Learning from our mistakes.
Finding better ways to do things.
And continuing to ask one simple question:
Can we do this better?
Joonkiree is a business. Of course, it needs to be sustainable and profitable if it is going to grow.
But profit isn't the only reason we started.
We want to build something that has meaning beyond a transaction.
If we help a parent find a comfortable piece of clothing they had been struggling to find, that matters to us.
If we help a small Nepali brand or maker reach more families, that matters too.
If we make someone's shopping experience a little easier, that matters.
And if Joonkiree eventually grows into something that can contribute to children's learning, development, wellbeing or everyday lives in meaningful ways, we'd be proud of that too.
We may not know exactly what that will look like yet.
We're still figuring it out.
Joonkiree is still at the beginning of its journey.
There will be things we do well and things we need to improve. We'll make mistakes, learn from them and keep moving forward.
But one question will continue to guide us:
If we were buying this for our own child, would we be happy with both the product and the experience?
That's where Joonkiree started.
And that's what we want to remember as we grow.
We'll keep searching for thoughtful products.
We'll keep listening to parents.
We'll keep learning from our customers.
We'll keep working with brands and makers who care about what they create.
And we'll keep trying to make the experience a little better.
We started Joonkiree because of something very personal—a search for something we wanted for our own baby.
That small search became a bigger idea.
And that idea became Joonkiree.
We don't know exactly where the journey will take us.
But we're looking forward to building it, one small step at a time.
Because sometimes, a little light is all you need to see the next step.
Joonkiree.
A little light, for their journey.
